Overview
Dulux Trade Sterishield Diamond Matt, when used in conjunction with appropriate cleaning practices, helps to reduce MRSA and E. coli populations. It contains an in-film bactericide, which inhibits bacteria and helps to promote a more hygienic environment. It has a matt finish and is tough, washable and durable, suitable for all normal interior wall and ceiling surfaces. Where frequent heavy condensation is likely, for example in some kitchens and bathrooms, Sterishield Diamond Eggshell would be more suitable. Dulux Trade Sterishield Diamond Matt is not a substitute for good hygiene practice.

- If necessary, wash the surface to remove dirt grease and powdery or dusty residues, rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
- Surfaces that are still powdery after thorough prep should be sealed with an appropriate .
- Where necessary, rub down and then wipe off with a damp, lint free cloth to avoid dust. Any surface defects should be filled.
Application
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin and do not use in temperatures below 8°C.
- Stir paint thoroughly before use and perform a test patch to ensure you are happy with the finished results
- New or bare surfaces - Seal with a first coat of 10 parts Sterishield Diamond Matt thinned with up to 1 part clean water
- Application can be done using a brush, roller airless or conventional sprayer
- Generally, 2 full coats of Sterishield Diamond Matt are required, but if the surface you are coating is in good condition and has been previously painted in a similar colour, 1 coat may suffice.
- For best colour consistency, purchase sufficient tinted paint for each job including touch-in at one time
Brush and roller
- If thinning is required add up to 1 part clean water to 10 parts paint
- Always start at the edges with a good quality brush and fill the remaining space using a roller
Conventional spray
- If thinning is required add up to 1 part clean water to 2.5 parts paint
Airless spray application
- If thinning is required add up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint
- A typical setup for airless spray application would be a minimum working pressure on paint of 133 bars (2000 lb/sq in) with a spray tip size of 0.38mm (15 thou) and a spray tip angle of 65°
